A beautiful vintage Art Deco era (c.1920s–1930s) teardrop pendant featuring a reverse-painted Morpho butterfly wing beneath bubble glass. Signed Made in Brazil, the pendant depicts a hand-painted tropical landscape with a palm tree, beach, water and distant hills. The natural iridescence of the Morpho butterfly wing creates striking flashes of blue, turquoise and violet as the pendant catches the light.
Set in a delicate brass tone teardrop mount with a looped bale, this charming pendant is a wonderful example of early Brazilian butterfly wing jewellery and would make a lovely addition to a chain or ribbon of your choice.
